The Ford RS 2800 Capri was based on the Capri Mk3 3.0s. Having only been produced in left-hand drive, assembled by Ford Europe, this limited edition Capri was only available though German RS dealers, manufactured between July 1981 & September 1982.
The RS 2800 Capri was powered by the Cologne V6 engine with a single Solex twin-choke carburettor, a Garrett T4 turbocharger with transistorised electronic ignition, produced 5.4psi max with a power output of 188bhp at 5.500rpm, attached to a four speed gearbox and a limited slip differential.
The RS 2800 had widened X-pack styled bodywork so it could accommodate the RS four spoke alloy7.5x13in wheels fitted with 235/60VR13 tyres.
With Bilsteen suspension all-round, anti dive kit, single leaf rear springs, uprated RS anti roll bars, ventilated front brakes, and its polyurethane two tier rear wing and deep front spoiler, this Zakspeed inspired Carpi had a maximum speed of around 220km/h (137mph) with a 0-60mph of 7.7 seconds.
It was said that around 200 were produced, but most indications were that it was more likely to have been 155.
